CONFESSING THE APOSTOLIC FAITH
A class designed to help ordinary people understand religion and find a church home.

Why are there so many religions?
Do they all lead to the same God?
Do they all give forgiveness of sin and life in heaven?
Is there such a thing as religious truth?
Does it make a difference which church a person joins?
Which church, if any, is most faithful to the teachings of the Bible?

These are common questions that need to be answered if the truth about God is to be known. Immanuel Lutheran Church understands why people are confused about religion. That's why we offer an adult course designed to help clear up some of this confusion and answer basic questions.

With nearly 3,000 different religious groups in the U.S.A., people are confronted by a virtual smorgasbord of religious and philosophic choices. Yet, to most people, mainline churches look pretty much alike. It's no wonder people looking for a church home often feel lost in a maze and give up on church altogether. This course, Confessing The Apostolic Faith, was written to clarify the religious scene, without over simplifying the issues. In this course the student will gain an understanding of nearly 2,000 years of church history. The participants will learn about the origins of different church denominations and why differences exist in the Christian faith.

This class gives the student an opportunity to think through his or her own beliefs and measure them against God's Word and His work in history. The course is different than many offered by other churches. It is challenging enough for the serious minded student, yet it is presented in an understandable way. Lutheran and non-Lutheran alike have found it helpful. The course combines lecture, discussion, and videos to create an interesting and enjoyable class. We hope you take the opportunity to attend this course.

What Does The Class Cost?

Just time and thought. Immanuel Lutheran sponsors this course as an outreach and service to the community. Our purpose is to teach those who are interested in church history and the doctrines that Jesus Christ Himself taught. This class provides Immanuel with the opportunity to teach others what Lutherans believe, while serving the needs of those looking for a church home. The cost of the materials is unwritten by Immanuel Lutheran.

Is This Class Simply A Way To Get People To Join Our Lutheran Church?

Nothing would please us more than if you requested membership in our church because of this course. But we believe this is a decision that each person must make for himself or herself based on careful thought and the teaching of our church. We trust that God will call those He wants to be members of our church. We do not pressure those who attend the class to join our congregation. Nor do we ask for any money. We simply appreciate your interest in learning about the faith and hope you find the class helpful.

If after taking the class you want to be a communicant member at Immanuel, you can make your request known to the Pastor and he will follow up from there. If you find yourself in disagreement with the doctrines of our church and do not want to be a member, we thank you for your participation and wish you well. If you desire, we will keep you informed about other courses we will be offering in the future.
