Youth Groups
In 1995-96 some of the members of Immanuel and Pastor Stanford began looking to the future with one fundamental concern. How do we as Lutherans pass on to our church and community a generation of Lutheran church and civic leaders who will be committed to the doctrines of the Lutheran Church and the excellent things of God? How can we help better educate Christians in a world wherein education and traditional virtues are no longer part of our culture? In an act of determination, born in faith, the group decided to forge ahead to establish Peoria's first Lutheran High School.

Over the past three years the group has worked to design a Lutheran High School in the tradition of Orthodox Lutheran theology and Classical Education. This group meets the third Saturday of each month at 9:00 a.m. It publishes a quarterly newsletter to about 4,000 area Lutherans and is presently engaged in a number of fund raising activities to raise money to hire a full-time Headmaster. Once the money is raised, a pastor trained in classical disciplines and committed to the doctrines and liturgy of the Lutheran church, will be brought to Peoria where he will work to recruit faculty and students, develop the educational program, and work with area churches and businesses. For more information on this project, see the Preus Lutheran High School web brochure.
